Nintendo Unveil an Impressive Fighter With Wii’s Tournament of Legends!
The list of Nintendo Wii exclusive Beat Em Up games continues to grow lately as running hot on the heels of Tatsunoko vs Capcom we’ve an entirely new title; Wii’s Tournament of Legends. From developers High Voltage, this game is the beginning in a proposed series of weapons-based combat games.
Wii’s Tournament of Legends centres upon Greek and Roman mythology, that includes fighters based on fables from that era. Every character is armed with a unique weapon, but as the single player mode goes on this weapon may be augmented and levelled up with various skills, which helps to make battle fairly diverse.
The gameplay is as standard for a Beat Em Up, but a few fascinating additions have been included. The camera actually tracks to favour the gamer dealing essentially the most harm, so if you’re administering a bit of a thrashing to your enemy the camera will close in on your actions. Moreover, each stage in Wii’s Tournament of Legends features a ‘Guardian’, an NPC that will charge in at chance intervals to assault you and your opponent. These attacks should be avoided or countered, and add an extra dynamic to the game.
The Wiimote and Nunchuk are both employed in Wii’s Tournament of Legends, and every controller corresponds to either your right or left hand as you assault and block. Nevertheless, control pad support is featured for those that prefer the old school style.
This title is shaping up to be another incredible Wii Beat Em Up. The combat is looking solid enough and the little extras help to spice up a tried and tested genre. The subject matter is refreshing and makes a decent change to the standard set of characters we would normally see. Wii’s Tournament of Legends is released this summer season, and could well be worth checking out!
