Hi I am doing a project on lightning and so I need to know why it is so rare on earth. in each country? and why we don’t see it that often? I be so happy if someone can tell me asap…

Lighting is caused when there has been a certain amount of time high pressure which allows for sunlight to permeate the earth more than it normally would…. This heats up the ground and then causes it to rise. When the low pressure moves back in (because of wind currents) the hot air meets the cold air in the sky and the two meet and cause differential charges in their molecular composition.
The ground happens to be charged the opposite (positively) and reaches up from the ground as it is drawn to the negatively charged sky… The highest point in an area is usually more commonly struck by lightning.
The charge then escapes from the clouds and fires a powerful stream of electrons down at the ground where the positive point was.
So to answer your questions:
1. Lightning isn’t rare. It can happen anywhere and isn’t just limited to thunderclouds and what not.
2. Lightning doesn’t really have a purpose, it’s just the physical forces of nature balancing the natural calm state of the earth ticking over… I suppose in a way then you could say that lightning’s purpose is to equilibrate the net charge differential between the ground and sky during thunderstorms or the like.
You don’t get lightning in the desert very often at all, what with the lack of thunderstorms. However there are other methods of lightning. Now I won’t do your homework for you, you do the rest.
