My neck and back hurt what can I do to get rid of the pain quick?
Today at cheer the flyer fell directly on my head and I heard my neck crack several times. I just kept going because the couches are so strict and would pull me out of everything. Right now I have headache and my neck and back really hurt. I have a game tommorow so how can I get it better by then?
No matter how much you want to participate, head and neck injuries (even potential ones) are nothing to play around with. Especially if you heard a “crack”, you should obtain qualified medical treatment immediately, most probably including an x-ray and neural cognizance.
There are probably lots of things you can do to just “feel better”, but none of them will help you if you really happen to be injured. And the problem with head and neck injuries is that many of the most dangerous kinds of problems often don’t appear right away; and many of the ones that CAN appear are among the most dangerous kinds of injuries you can have. These are the kinds of injuries people try to downplay before becoming permanently injured or dying because they didn’t obtain treatment.
I really do understand the pressure of not wanting to miss-out and how unpleasant just having to go to the doctor can be, especially knowing that a doctor may very well tell you that you can’t participate. But no matter how important anything may seem, it’s not important enough to risk your life over, or the rest of your life if you happen to become paralyzed.
Please take my advice and at least see a qualified medical professional before you participate again. Yes, they may say “no”, but they may also give you clearance to participate while also being able to treat the pain you’re experiencing to help you compete even better. This is one time when you should be your own best friend.
