Suspension – Ohlins
I know these are the main fork suppliers for the big boys, even HRC now using them instead of Showa.
My question is do you think they are just the shell, with the logo, (for the sponsorship) Do they run different internals. Im thinking of Stuart Easton who runs K-Tech internals in his Ohlins forks when winning at Macau. Different discipline I know, but more info available on this class.
A friend of mine insists that K-tech are the very best and would not be surprised if all the teams are running them.
Any thoughts or opinions.?
Yeah there is alot of that ” sticker ” work going on in the sport.
I have seen a few riders wearing the sponsored labels on their helmets yet undernieth the stickers of a lesser brand is Arai helmet.
Cant blame the rider for wanting to wear the best.
As for the fork, yeah, there is some weird stuff going on. HRC own Showa yet they still tested and started using Ohlins towards the end of the year.
I guess its impossable to tell how long them Showa forks had Ohlins spings etc inside them. No doubt if HRC asked Ohlins to keep us in the dark, they would do, knowing if there product worked they would get the contract next year.
I guess it comes down to rider choice. Some are very picky with there requests.
I remember reading that the Yoshi US Rockstar team of Ben Spies & Mat Mladin always used Britsh made Dunlops rather then the Kobe Japan made rubber. If it worked for them, then the team would let them. Even though they cost nearly 3 times as much !
