To clean the equine saddle pads, you can use a few different strategies. It is important that you know what type of material was used to create your pads so that you will know how to properly clean them. It is best to remove the sweat and grime, which can help to get the accumulated hair unstuck. If you haven’t let the saddle pads get too dirty, you will be able to remove the hair easily with a brush and duct tape.
Loosening up the hair before you try to get it off the saddle pads can be done by running a stream of water over it. Since you are likely to be cleaning the pads outdoors, all you have to do is a grab a water hose and squirt down the hair. A shop vac can also help to get rid of stuck on hair, unless you are dealing with Neoprene material.
This substance would be too slick for a vacuum to work. Instead, Neoprene saddle pads can be washed using a pressure washer if you have one. If not, you could always take the pads to a car wash and hose them down really well. The force of the water will be strong enough to remove most buildup dirt and hair.
Other fabrics can be washed in your bathtub, especially if they need to be soaked before cleaning. Your washing machine may also be a place where your equine saddle pads can be cleaned.
Overall, a number of ways are available to help you care for your saddle pads in order to make sure they last as long as possible. It is also necessary to clean them to keep your horse healthy. Use the above methods based on what material the pads you own are made out of for best results.
