Portraiture is what one man is engaged in and his subjects include parakeets, alligators, and a winning black angus and this is not only becoming a highly specialized art business but a successful one as well. As he distinctly describes, “”If anyone wants a painting of their pet flea, I’ll make one provided that there’s a clear snapshot of it”". Creatures that move about and things that stirred his creativity were his interests as a kid. When one has a wife and a child to support it is not as easy to make a decent living off of selling fine paintings as all artists are familiar with. He moved to the Bay Area and attempted to pursue a career in commercial art as he continued studying. It was during World War II when he opened his display business and engaged in fine art as a hobby.
What he did was make a portrait of a pair of siamese cats owned by a friend and then his wife suggested that he develop his hobby into a business after it delighted the cats who purred and rubbed against it almost ruining the piece in the process. He managed to gain a desirable financial result from his entry into the pet portrait painting business.
He exhibited his most up to date art creations at the famous cow palace. This led to numerous requests for portraits of fine show horses, a champion rabbit, and a pet parakeet whose owner proudly mentions that she raised it from an egg. A well known television actor singer and recording artist requested him to create a portrait of his horse. He was contracted to make the portrait of the award winning black angus. Taking note of a big university in Santa Clara they have a new director of the gallery and museum and in San Jose she was the former director of a big museum and she took on the job a month ago succeeding a reverend who died early last month. Considering the new director she is a well known artist who exhibited nationally and locally at the palace of the legion of honor.
At a gallery in San Francisco is where a local sculptor is preparing for an exhibit. Covering neo classical to highly abstracted forms are thirty of his works which will be exhibited. He is a photographer and writer not to mention a highly talented artist and he also conducts a ballet school. He was able to star in the movie called spectre of a rose. From a private collection will come more than 200 objects, paintings, prints, books, and sculptures that will be remaining on display for an extended period of time at a famous museum.
What covers 50 years is a collection owned by a couple from Pennsylvania. There are the works of a dozen renowned painters and also the scores of other historic greats. Considering the book collection of the husband he started it when he was still a student of Harvard he expanded his collection by buying many of the more valuable objects on installment.
