is the piston ring end gap on 2 stroke motors the same as on 4 stroke? or more or less, and why?
it is an air cooled scooter, about 115cc (about 15cc oversized from stock).
I don’t believe they make manuals for this type (it’s rare and unique). I’ve been trying to contact the manufacturer but they are no help either.
again, I know it’s .004 per inch for 4 stroke, but my question is is 2 stroke end gap different than 4 stroke.
Hi there. the end gap measurement is not standard size on 2 strokes niether is it on four strokes. the end gapmeasurement is related directly to the load bare on the engine and the bore of the engine. Different manufacturers and different engines vary as much as.0005
I am currently re-boring an nsr 125 2 stroke and the maths is doing my head in.
the guy above im afraid might have ruined your day. four stroke engines have a larger ring gap as they need to allow the oil to enter into the crankcase for the moving parts I would go with the honda guidline for your scooter I did it with a 2 stroke gillerra runner last year and worked fine go for .0035/inch
