I have a Yamaha wave venture 1100 that stalls at about 30 miles an hour when key is “on” position?
If it is in the “ON” position it stalls and I need to restart. If it is in the “Reserve” position, it does not do this and runs great. I tried changing fuel filter but that did not help. Any suggestions? Thanks
If your machine is over 10 years old you could have a rust build up in the tank. You need to take the tank off and get rid of ALL the fuel and then see if the tank is still in good repair internally. Inside the tank near the fuel outlet valve, there is a general filter. It stands about 3 inches high. The first two inches is the normal fuel (follow the line to the petcock) and the bottom is the 1 inch reserve. If you are getting gas in the reserve mode, then your primary is blocked, more then likely due to rust. The reason it stalls at 30 is that is where the pressure pulls the junk to the valve filter (internally) and when you slow, the pressure becomes less allowing the junk to flow out. You might just end up having to acid your tank and then reline it. Good luck.
