¿H-D vs. Vic?
I am looking at purchasing a new bike and am debating between three. The H-D ’08 Fat Bob, Vic’s ’08 Kingpin or Vic’s ’08 Vegas Jackpot. I am sure that there are not too many owners of the new ’08 models but if you are a previous owner I would like to know your thoughts on the following:
Are there any non-bias reviews done on these bikes?
What is your overall satisfaction with your bike?
What are some of the quarks with either builder?
How is the dependability with either builder?
How satisfied are you with the company? (Maintenance, service, customer relations)
How comfortable is the ride?
Does the stock sound have that deep grumble?
I would prefer genuine comments, not ‘Oh that bike sucks.’ Thanks for the help.
I own a Victory V-92, which is an older model victory, more of a classic style bike. I love it! I’ve had very few issues with it since I’ve bought it, and a few of those were due to my own stupidity. I’ve ridden the Kingpin, and it’s a nice, comfortable ride, I felt very confident on it. It was glued to the road, handled beautifully, and had plenty of power. I rode it for a 300 mile trip and didn’t want to give it back!
Polaris is a world class manufacturer, and they have a phenominal customer service reputation. They are a company that prides itself on customer service, they’ve realized that the best advertising you can get is word of mouth.
As far ast the stock sound…they’re pretty quiet. But for about four hundred bucks you can get yourself a shiny new set of Vance & Hines longshots that’ll fill the bill in the sound department. My 01 Vic has performed flawlessly, and I’ve put close to 10,000 miles on it in the past three years. The only issue I had was when I put in a stage 1 kit(pipes and a performance chip) I didn’t have the ecu recalibrated to the correct settings at first. I got that problem remedied, and have had trouble free riding ever since. I know a lot of people who have Vics and Harleys, and there are good points as well as bad points to both. It’s all a matter of preference, really. My advise to you is to try and test ride the bikes you want and decide for yourself which is the more comfortable ride, since the only person that knows what you like is you!
