Wine Provinces Of France
When people think of France naturally the first thing that comes to mind is the wine. France makes more wine than any other country in the world. This article outline some of the most famous wine producing areas of this European country.
One of the most popular regions for a combination of sightseeing and some great wine tasting is Provence. The area boasts nice little medieval villages and was once a place of work for Vincent Van Gogh.
Bring your white wine glass and head to Alasace, which is located near Germany on the East side of France. The varieties of grapes used in this region and the same as are used in the German wines across the border.
If you stop off in Bordeaux then you will need to make sure you have a red wine glass to hand. Bordeaux does in fact also produce some lovely and sweet white wines. Bordeaux exports a lot of the wine it produces and has an Atlantic coastline make it an ideal place to export from.
The Burgandy region is equally split between the creation of white and red wine, so this is a good place to travel to if you want to experience a bit of eveything. In Burgandy the main wine produced is red wine. In this region you can find the only wine produced that can be drank within the same year; Beaujolais Nouveau.
Champagne is arguably the most well known wine producing region of France and is also the coldest. Of course the region is most famous for its sparkling wine however still wine is still produced in this area as well. Make sure you use a proper Champagne glass to help you get the most out of this wine tasting experience.
The Loire Valley is a popular and beautiful tourist destination which also has some amazing wines produced along the river banks of the Loire River. Sauvignon Blanc is made in the Upper Loire valley.
